Merci beaucoup!
Mme Roach
Videos are due tomorrow February 27th (except LeBlanc they are Thursday due to missed class today)2/26/2019 It has been an exciting day today while I have had a chance to check out some amazing videos made by our very own students! To date I have 10-12 videos saved on my computer and anyone else that need's to finish at home will have to bring in their electronic device or a USB with the saved video in order for me (and the class if you'd like) to view it. Students will be marked on whether or not they have accurately and clearly presented their chosen outcome using examples to the class. They were given 5 hours to work on this project in class and the final resulting video was to be 3-5 minutes long.
Merci beaucoup! Mme Roach

Today, we did a review of operations with decimals with a multi-step word problem around baby-sitting earnings.
Students are so passionate about their review projects that they all advocated for extra time to work on their projects for the rest of the period, so that's what we did! Students will have time in the remaining three classes to complete this work and presentations are due next Wednesday, February 27. Next Thursday, we will wrap up review with a round of review games to revisit old concepts before March Break. Have a great week! Mme Killam All four of my classes have been challenged to create a math video focusing on one of the outcomes that we have covered this year in math. The goal of this video is to allow the students to use their creativity, team work skills, and problem solving skills to create a lesson about the outcome to teach (review) to their classmates. This lesson should include all necessary information and examples to be able to accurately and effectively present a lesson to their peers. Students are having so much fun so far and it is incredible to see what can be created if you let them run with it. I look forward to seeing the final results next Wednesday February 27th - which is our due date. See you on Friday! Mme. Roach We are continuing to work on percents as well as review of previous concepts. Today, students worked in groups to practice working with percents, fractions and decimals to solve riddles. Here's a picture of today's warm-up questions and today's enrichment questions if anybody wants to try to solve it for next Thursday.
Happy Valentine's Day! Mme Killam Today, we went over students' quiz on coordinates and these quizzes were returned to students for their portfolio. We also looked at last week's fraction addition enrichment question together (congratulations to all of the students who figured out the answer prior to taking it up together as a class!). We spent the remainder of the period having fun while playing percentage Math-O, reviewing how to mentally calculate numbers using the percentages that students worked with this week with Mme Roach.
Have a great week! Mme Killam Above are examples of how to find 50% of, 25% of, 75% of certain amounts. Students were challenged today to find sales, discounts, and tax on monetary items and were also shown how to find 10% of a number as well as 1%. I look forward to working more on this with them on Friday - it's an exciting outcome!
Mme. Roach Today and Friday students had the opportunity to study and prepare for their upcoming quiz tomorrow on Adding and Subtracting fractions. Students must be able to find common multiples, find common denominators, add and subtract fractions, reduce fractions to lowest terms and convert fractions from improper to mixed and vice versa. Please engage with your children and talk fractions as much as you can!
Mme Roach Students worked extremely well today with a pre-quiz on adding fractions and practice work on subtracting! With small classes today, it was easy to get to a lot of students who needed some extra help. We will be having our quiz on adding and subtracting fractions middle of next week.
Happy Weekend! Mme Roach |
