Mme. Roach
Here are some examples of practice sheets we have been working on this week. We have corrected all of these in class but they are still great questions to work on together at home. Especially the word problems! Tomorrow we will focus in on area of a circle - it keeps getting better and better :) Mme. Roach

Today students were asked to use their drawing compasses (FYI: after 8 days there are still students who do not have their math sets, rulers, or calculators that are needed for this unit. This was heavily discussed today!) to draw circles of any size. We wrote in our journals about the relationship between radius and diameter and are about to explore circumference in more detail on Monday. Students were also asked to bring in something that was round in shape for an activity we are doing. We do not give much homework and having these things completed makes classroom activities run much more smoothly..
Thank you so much, Mme. Roach Today, students completed their final subtraction strategy quiz for mental math, Keeping a Constant Difference. With special events happening in the school on the next two Thursdays, this wraps up our specific mental math instruction until the new year!
Next Thursday, students will be working on completing questions involving Order or Operations and decimal numbers, so today we reviewed what Order of Operations is (PEDMAS) and students got to review and practice in a boisterous game of Order of Operations Math-O. It was a good review and a lot of good practice for calculating operations mentally! |
